<div></div>
<div>Emily Goodwin grew up in Protestant New England, but her intricate works have been inspired by Catholic and Latin American art.&nbsp; She often combines religious elements with packaging, mythic, and fairy tale iconography to make 3-dimensional collages which she calls "Veronica's Icons" (after Saint Veronica.) Her work is currently being shown at Gallery in the Woods in Brattleboro, Vermont, and on line at Electric Gallery. She can be commissioned to make customized icons focused on favorite saints and/or topics.</div>
<div>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Emily also writes short fiction and poetry, and sells antique books. She collects odds and ends at flea markets, thrift stores, book stores and rummage sales.&nbsp; If a book can't be salvaged and sold, it can be made into art. (Likewise, if it's not a good time, it can still be a good story.)<br />&nbsp; She has a doctorate in Education, but gave up practicing family therapy in order to write and make art every day.</div>
<div>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After fifteen years in Springfield, MA, she and her partner, Carlos, have recently moved to Leyden, a serene and beautiful place to make art and plant vegetables.</div>

The exhibit is in Nina's Nook, 125a Avenue A, but the RECEPTION with the artists will be at the Powertown Popup Shop in the old Colle Opera House on the corner of Avenue A and Third St from 5-8pm! Artists from far and near have contributed to the second year of this exciting show. Several artists from last year's SSS are creating life sized torso sculptures that will be on display at the Reception at the Popup Shop.&nbsp;</p>
<p>After the Reception at 8:30, downstairs in the same building, will be a reading "Sexy Scribes Speaking" hosted by local author Jeremy Edwards. The event features the kind of lineup you&rsquo;d usually have to travel to New York to see: Michelle Augello-Page, Sally Bellerose, Elizabeth Black, Lana Fox, Sacchi Green, I.J. Miller, Teresa Noelle Roberts, Robin Elizabeth Sampson, and host Jeremy Edwards. Books will be available for purchase, and door prizes will include copies of major erotica anthologies that are hot off the presses! Don&rsquo;t miss this unique opportunity to let the unparalleled sexual power of language get you in the Valentine&rsquo;s Month mood. &nbsp;18+</p>
